Development - websites

Who

Website development is concerned with effectively presenting all functionality and data from the infrastructure to the end user. Web developers are skilled in areas like interface development and graphic design.

Interface developers need to a certain level an understanding of the way the infrastructure does it's job.

What

The starting point of the RNA-project is that its website developers should be able to quickly and easily create website components to which they can apply RNA solutions.

The RDF framework, which is at the base of most  RNA demonstrators, is a complex piece of technology, however. For instance, building a web page that retrieves its data from the RDF framework requires a great amount of time and specialist expertise, aspects which web developers often lack.

For this reason, the RNA-project uses tools that enable web developers to create web pages based on the RDF framework in short time and without the need for specialist knowledge. We refere to these tools as site developers interfaces (SDI).

How

Web developers work in general available environments geared towards interface development and graphic design. In general they will not access the infrastructure directly, but they are the primary users of the technical interfaces which surround it.
