Large SKOS structures
Naturalis National Museum of Natural History
- go to demo site> soortenregister
The Dutch Species Register offers access to a sizeable reference network centered around the taxonomic thesauris of Naturalis, to which a number of large databases have been linked. All sorts of organisations and invidual specialists are enaged in the further development of the register.
The Dutch Species Register is a tree structure of more than 40.000 taxonomic concepts. Each concept (taxon) has, apart from the regular conceptcard data (scientific name, language variants, etcetera), an eleborate track record on naming history.
The complete tree plus all the extra data is set up as a RDF/SKOS structure.
NTR-project
- go to demo site> ntr-project / aat-nsr-nrc
This is a small demonstrator, showing the linking possibilities of reference structures once they have a common format. This experiment was done for the Dutch NTR-project (National Thesaurus Reference structures). In this demonstrator three SKOS reference structures are linked:
- the AATnl (Dutch Art and Architecture Thesaurus)
- The Dutch Species Register - NSR (see above)
- part of the National Reference collection - NRc (see above)
In the demonstrator-site these three structures can be viewed as part of one tree structure. The data from the NSR and NRc are collected though from the respective sites, which is demonstrated when you click on one of the concepts.
